The ANTIGUA PIER GROUP LIMITED (APG Ltd.) operates as a joint venture company with the objective to evaluate, develop and secure opportunities for the advancement and sustainable growth of Antigua as a leading cruise ship destination. Following a US$22 million improvement to the St. John’s Harbour, the cruise port now boasts two cruise ship docks capable of handling four large cruise ships and more than 600,000 visitors. A fifth berth is part of a future waterfront development plan for St. John's, as is a marina, boutique hotel, upscale designer shops, restaurants, a street lighting and signage program, landscaping and an entertainment complex. The ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA TOURISM AUTHORITY is a corporate body which functions to develop policies for the promotion of tourism in Antigua and Barbuda; to design and implement marketing strategies, advise the government on matters relating to the strategies; put measures in place to provide sufficient and suitable airlift and sea transport services to and from the destination; encourage the establishment of amenities, facilities and services for the enjoyment of Antigua and Barbuda as a tourist destination; to carry out research to inform the government and the tourism industry; and to do other things incidental to the proper discharge of its functions.
